How To Create A Colour Mood Board For Inspiration
Share
What is a mood board?
A visual tool that conveys our notions and visual ideas is referred to as a moodboard. It is a well considered and planned arrangement of pictures, objects, texts, etc. that aims to create or convey a specific mood or idea.
What is a colour mood board?
You can create a colour palette from the vision you're given on the mood board by using it as inspiration. The focus of a colour mood board is the colour. With colour swatches and images of anything that represents your colour inspiration, such as landscapes and objects, your colour mood board will come to life. For example, if you have a retro aesthetic colour vision, a picture from a vintage design magazine or retro subject matter may help you choose the ideal color palette. Basically the image can be anything that inspires you because the main focus of that image is not so much the subject itself but the colours that are in it. The colours are what’s creating the atmosphere and mood that you’re looking to recreate.
How many colours do I choose for my colour mood board?
For our colour moodboard, I’m only pulling 4 to 5 colours per photo because I want to create a limited palette. Using a limited palette for your artwork will create a more cohesive feel and really enhance that vibe that you’re going for. The process is fairly straightforward and simple. You can do it for any creative project you have!
