6 Types of Photos to Up Your Insta-Game

Do you have a love-hate relationship with Instagram? Not sure what to post anymore cuz every photo feels the same? Because I feel you. I'm going to share with you the 6 types of pictures that I post on my feed to change things up now and then. While we work hard at our Insta-Game, we must remember that at the end of the day, it’s just a tool and we must never get caught up in the numbers game!

1. Finished piece

This is what I usually post for all my digital creations. It is a jpeg with all the layers flattened and it shows off my work in the best light.

2. Mock-ups

Sometimes I like to share some mock-ups of my work in a lifestyle setting. This lets people see the design on an actual product and visualize it in a home setting. I am still sharing my work but it is now slightly different from a flat jpeg file which makes it more interesting.

3. Carousel posts with colour variation

I love creating multiple colour options of a single design. Sometimes I go overboard and end up with 10 colours! But it is actually very fun to see all the colour options and decide which one you like most. I pop them into a carousel post so that my followers can swipe through each one and see all the different colours available. Sometimes I get my followers to vote for their favourite colours in the comments or in Insta-stories!

4. Peek in to the studio / Work desk situation

Give people a glimpse into the your work space! It’s always fun to see how people style their work space, how they organize their tools. I know I’m always interested to see how people organize their craft or art studio.

5. Process videos/photos

Show some behind the scenes of your studio, packing process, drawing/painting process. It’s always interesting to see the work that goes on behind the scenes. You can opt for a quick video or multiple work-in-progress photos or if you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at some stop-motion fun!

6. Meet the maker / Self-Intro

Do a self intro day! Post a photo of yourself to show the human behind the account. It makes you more real and relatable.
